Mutilingual school blog
Kai Japanese Language School in the Shinjuku area of Tokyo has started a school blog called Kai Gambalog! in which its students can write in their mother tongues.
Students at Kai are from 40 countries around the world. After the March 11 earthquake and tsunami hit Japan, most of the students temporarily returned to their home countries. However, due to the gaps in information between Japan and other countries, it was hard for many students to persuade their concerned parents to let them return to Japan for the next semester.
Hence, in order for parents to know accurate information about Japan, Kai established the blog for students to write firsthand about the situation in Tokyo and information about the Fukushima nuclear power plant for relatives and loved ones to read.
Currently, students have blogged in Chinese, English, French, German, Indonesian, Korean, Norwegian, Spanish and Swedish.
The blog is at www.kaij.jp/gambalog. For more information about Kai, visit www.kaij.jp.
